I just got this book late Wednesday evening - opened the front door and there it was - propped up against the side of the house. So, I decided to read it before reading the other book I had chosen to read for this evening.

I'm very happy that this is a third series of books by Virginia K Bennett. I've enjoyed the other two series - Cozy Cove and Lake Cozy - so much.

The protagonist of this book is Katie Thorne - a late 40's young lady who s to work many jobs. She sees an ice cream truck and decides to buy it and become a traveling ice cream lady. Her side kick is an adorable harness trained orange cat named Jaspurr.

At her first gig - a retirement community for seniors - a body is found - in the freezer where her extra ice cream was to be stored.

The rest of the book is devoted to her meeting many of the residents of the senior community and working to solve the murder.

For those who Virginia's books I highly recommend this new series.

"Chilled to the Bone (The Ice Cream Truck Mysteries #1)" by Virginia K. Bennett is a great first book to what's starting out a unique new series of cozy mysteries. How many ice cream truck themed cozy mysteries have you heard of? Seriously, I'd to know because I haven't read any with an ice cream truck (especially one doubling as her living situation) until this one. Plus, gotta love an orange cat with a good pun name. This one is especially lovable and unique.

The mystery had me all over the place for who done it. I had a little niggle of a feeling about the actual culprit but that was purely out of hoping they might be a permanent character. I could just picture that character's mannerisms and personality and it was a total "daaaaang!" But I totally understood that their motive explanation fit them at the reveal.
