Brash, Maddie and the kids escape the Sisters for their last vacation before the kids are off to college. Brash wrangles a promise from Maddie to keep her curious imagination in check for the week. (As if!) Stopping for snacks, the teens notice a man in winter outerwear and guess at possibilities while Brash studiously ignores the sight and Maddie zips her lip.

At the B&B, the family note the overdressed man is also a guest. Brash rescues the man with small talk after noticing he’s trapped by small, inquisitive children; the teens notice him lurking in the shadows while they’re out with new friends and; Maddie notices that man and another watching the teens closely. Then one of the teen girls goes missing.

Meanwhile, Bertie and the girls assign themselves an incoming gig from Maddie’s business. The four women will share caretaking duties for Ella, a contemporary, suffering from dementia and between nursing homes. Ella keeps hinting at a secret that might be the only one in three counties the girls don’t know about. But now that they know there’s a secret…

Double mystery here

While on vacation, the family encounters a strangely-attired man and each suspects there’s a mystery lurking behind his long coat and slouchy hat. And there is. But Deron and Granny Bert are taking care of business back in The Sisters and they, too take on a mystery. In what Madison suspects may be one of the last family vacations before graduation and college for the three teenagers, their vacation turns into the family working together in a case that extends beyond their stay at Bolivar Beach. Enjoyed every minute of this clever mystery starting with a journey to the beach with Maddie, Brash, Blake, Bethany, Megan on a family vacation and ending with the hilarious antics of Granny Burt and the “Girls” back home- themselves steeped in a very cold case that finally saw the light of day.

Another hit by one of my favorite authors! Character development is Becki Willis’ forte! It allows her readers to get inside the heads of the characters as they are just the real people we know. The story plots (and there are usually more than one of them) are so compelling that you can’t put the book down. this is another great story they are on vacation but soon know something is not right, and back home granny bert and the gang are hired to set with a woman that gets asked to leave the nursing homes she is put in if you suspense with some humor you will want to read this story looking forward to the next one Julie Boynton27

I love this series! This book was mostly set on Bolivar Peninsula which sounds amazing from the wonderful descriptions in the book. I enjoyed that the whole family was involved with this one. The case that "The Geriatric Crew" took on was so interesting and fun with all the antics. As always I highly recommend this series. Lois F. Turnipseed73 1 follower

The story is a mystery and it keeps the reader guessing till the end. Moments that thrill, moments of sweetness. Family love and adventure .

Wonderful

Again another amazing book. Another story plot from the other books of the series, but a bit more disturbing to me. But I still enjoyed the characters and the scenes depicted. I’m more of a camper then a sand person, but it made me think about water views. : ) Edith H4

This is a more complicated one with a plot that involves others and an older mystery/crime. I thought the story, the pace, the description of the archipelago part of the Texas shore, the characters, and the mystery were really well done.
