The Intense Story Of Courage, Betrayal, And The Unrelenting Quest For Justice.
The Last Story by Arthur Kane is an extremely professionally written book with an eye to detail on the life of Jeff German who was found murdered outside his home in the early hours of a September morning by his close Neighbour and friend.
Jeff German was a veteran Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter and was no stranger to controversy or the danger of his work. For more than four decades Jeff authored stories relentlessly confronting the mob, the corrupt politicians, and the greedy bureaucrats. He made many enemies, but Jeff joked how it came with the job.
This book is the story of Jeffs life and the cases he was not only working on when he was murdered but the stories he had worked on up until his death. In summary, the motive behind Jeff Germans murder was a deadly collision of political ambition, a scandal, and the dangerous world of investigative journalism. Jeffs relentless pursuit of truth led him to uncover a sexually incriminating video involving rising politician Robert Telles. Germans reporting on this scandal effectively ended Telless political aspirations.
When German died the police struggled to identify a suspect until they released a photo of the suspects vehicle to the media. That tip led them to none other than the small-time politician, and the police identified Telles as the prime suspect. He was subsequently arrested and now faces life in prison, pending the outcome of his trial in August 2024. The quest for justice continues, driven by Germans colleagues and fellow investigative reporters who vowed to hold the killer accountable.
Arthur Kane has done a remarkable job and has kept his promise to his friend Jeff and this book is a tribute to Jeff and the retelling of the intense story of Courage, Betrayal, and the unrelenting Quest for Justice. The story portrays a journalist who believed in digging deep and leaving no stone unturned to discovering the facts and uncover at any cost the corruption and lies of a public figure and eventually uncover the truth behind the many scandals so justice could be served. This is a fascinating book which I highly recommend to anybody who is interested in True Crime, history and the story of a journalist murdered for doing his job to report and uncover the facts.
