This is, hands down, one of Annabelle's best.

She has such a talent for writing shifters that let you see that the animal inside isn't something separate but instead is an intrinsic part of them.

The wolf isn't its own thing, it's the instinctive, wild, and emotionally driven inner part that makes them a shifter.

And poor Syl's wolf is telling him something the more logical part is finding difficult to come to terms with, because shifters only ever bond with one person, right?!

While the paranormal police continue their investigations into the illegal magic that made up a lot of the plotline in the associated Dark Forest Pack series, there's the incredibly strong romance happening here with Syl, police witch Wyn and the Fae Guard Chylath who's been told in no uncertain terms, not to fall in love this side of the Fae Gate!
