This, straight after its predecessor, felt an excess of adultery and tangled relationships, but it cannot be said to be a fault, since that's what Andrea Newman does so well.1 catherine Harrison52

Hummmmm .... What a bunch of awful people !!!

I did enjoy this book, despite not liking any of the characters . Felix is a selfish man Richard a wet weekend Helen selfish Sally weak and don't get me started on the pathetic lump Elizabeth !! What a hopeless excuse for a woman no back bond desperate and weak Yet I really enjoyed their misery !!! They all deserved their despair their anguish because they are all so self centred. Even crazy Inge !! Who really needed a slap not a very I understanding therapist but at least she sought help !! The rest no one you'd want as a friend they are all too self absorbed but ..... A great read !!!

The characters in this follow up novel to 'A Sense of Guilt' may not always be able, but they are drawn with honesty. The action of the novel is character driven, rather than plot driven - this is one of the main strengths, I find, of Andrea Newman's writing. As readers, we are led from scene to scene with a sense that anything may happen - more a sense of danger, than a gift of poison.

A worthy sequel to "A Sense of Guilt". It seems almost left open for a further tome, but to my knowledge there isn't one. Lara617 6
