When Aki hears a gunshot, he knows the dust has far from settled. Nao says it can wait, but Aki's unable to understand why they can't tie up those loose ends.

I have been in love with this series since book 1 and now at book 6, I'm still as in love. There have been so many hard moments, harsh, cruel, downright evil, betrayals, and much more. But there have been good times too, and I'm glad this book was more of the good times. Oh it doesn't mean business didn't get handled, because Father Murata has to remind everyone who's still boss, but he's finally opened up and got the man he's wanted and time for change is finally upon us.

For me, Aki has been my favorite really throughout the whole series. He came from nothing and proved himself over and over and over again, even when he was accused of something he didn't do and severely beaten to the point he had to fake his own death. And then really did die, twice on the operating table. No one has proved who is more loyal than Aki and I hate the life he's had to deal with to finally get what he's wanted all along.

For Nao, I can't think of a time where there wasn't some point at which I didn't want to beat him over the head for something. For not following his heart and being a coward, for putting Aki through pure hell and not standing up for him, and a few other stupid choices he's made, but at least now he's attempting to make things correct. And finally realizing that the man he's held away for so long, knows what he needs before he even realizes he needs it.

For the both of them, I'm glad to see them working together the way they should have been all along. It doesn't mean they don't disagree or get upset. But they are working on doing the most important thing of all. Communicating to each other what they need and what they think needs to be done. And because of it, they're thriving. They are setting high standards that had gone lax, and bringing the family back to where it should be.

I love this series so much. I love the characters, the plots, and to see where things are going to lead. It's been a happy book for me and I'm curious to see where it's going to happen next. Maryann Kafka738 23

“Wrapped In Screams” is book six in “The Yakuza Path” series by Amy Tasukada. This novel picks up after the explosive book five “”Flowers of Flesh and Blood” and after the war with the Korean Syndicate.

Nao Murata needs a vacation, not so much for himself but for Aki Hisona, who he almost lost forever. Aki is recovering from mortal wounds, from the battle with the Koreans. But Aki want’s so much more for him and Nao. Aki want’s to prove that he’s able to continue being Nao’s assistant. As Aki recovers he still can’t resist the passionate feelings between him and Nao, but Nao knows Aki’s condition is still fragile.

There is plenty to keep Nao and Aki busy. Nao want’s Aki to be involved in decisions on the renovation of the old house where they are residing. Aki has some surprising plans of his own.

But for Nao there’s also serious business that needs to be handled. Someone had betrayed Nao during the battle with the Koreans and retribution is to come.

Amy Tasukada doesn’t miss a beat, even with this quick read about Nao and Aki after the battle. There is still violence that has always been a major part of “The Yakuza Path” series, but it’s very toned down. “Wrapped In Screams” is really focused on Nao and Aki’s: difference in personalities, life styles, the ability to compromise and a compassionate growing relationship.

“The Yakuza Path” is another one of my top favorite series and it will always be worth reading again! It’s always a pleasure to read the stories and enjoy the characters that Amy Tasukada brings to life! I hope there will be more to come!

*I received this novel for free in exchange for an honest review*

With the war against the Korean mafia won, Nao wants to take a well-earned break and spend some time with Aki. Aki, however, is keen to see that all the loose ends from the battle are tied up. With their differing opinions and Nao’s wish for a slower pace to their new relationship both find themselves wondering how long it will last.

Wrapped in Screams is different from the other novels in the series as it focuses more on the romance between Nao and Aki. I loved this change as you get to learn even more about the main characters and see how their new relationship is going to work. Nao’s want to take things slowly is completely understandable due to his past, but I also understand Aki’s point of view so I felt myself hoping that they could compromise. This novel also high-lighted the personality and lifestyle differences between them, but rather than push them apart they make them stronger as a couple.

I love that they are together now and with Aki’s support, Nao is able to tie up the loose ends and still find some time for the break that they both need.

I loved this sixth instalment to the series and cannot wait to read book 7! Juniper2,912 21

This series is a rollercoaster in all the best ways, and each book builds twists and turns into the larger world they’re set in, while adding layers to the complicated individuals who inhabit it. There’s intrigue, action, and suspense. There’s careful emotional development and so much intensity of feeling that make Nao and Aki impossible to look away from. I love (and hate, but really mostly love) how nothing ever comes easily in this world, but that they’re for each other through so much. Definitely start at the beginning of the series, if you haven’t already, and then keep reading— it’s so worth it.

This has been an incredible series. We've followed Nao and Aki through every emotion and every kind of situation and finally, everything comes to a head. The final battle strengthens some bonds and relationships and breaks others irretrievably. Through it all, however, Nao and Aki have been there for each other and continue to be for the final reckoning with their enemies. A most satisfying conclusion to the series. Aylin Deniz1 review

Yes

Finally caught up with the series. This installment is probably my favorite now because Nao and Aki are officially an item now. Not sure about the getting turned on while delivering punishment part, but otherwise great way to tie up loose ends. A little concerned about when Miko comes back, but so happy for our boys! Looking forward to the rest ^_^ Pumpkin6
