The overarching plot that's been around for the last few books -- evil developers trying to change Peridale from a quaint town to a retreat for the wealthy -- reaches a climax (I believe) in this book.

As the book opens, Julia seems almost defeated, which isn't usual for her. James (the evil developer) is beginning to dig up Peridale for his new development, which will destroy the village. Digging quickly stops, as a body -- a cold case -- is found. The plot of this book centers both on Julia, Jessie, Barker's and others attempts to solve the cold case and their efforts to defeat James.

I don't believe this book would not be meaningful for anyone who hasn't read a lot of the prior books in the series. All of the characters have changed and grown remarkably over the previous 29 books. I where they are now.

This book brought in something different. The cold case murder occurred in 1979, and we get flashbacks to 1979 featuring a much younger Brian (Julia's father), her grandmother Dot, and also Julia's mother, who has been dead throughout the series. I d this addition.

In some ways this felt heavier than previous entries, but I enoyed it. As the book ends, Julia's grandmother Dot (my least favorite of all the characters) announces she's been given 13 tickets to Spain to visit the hotel they stayed at in a past book. Quickly, all the key characters announce they hope to be included in the trip, as everyone deserves a holiday. I will definitely read the next book, but hope it doesn't turn out the last adventure in Spain (probably my least favorite of the series) in which we get alternating POV with DOT!

There are also hints of upcoming plots -- perhaps new overarching themes -- that will feature Barker and Katie's backstories. I found those interesting and would love to see where the author takes them.

Best one yet, it was nice to see how the story concluded from the last book.

This was quite a wonderful season finale send off!

Veronica’s brother, Sebastian who had been missing since 1979 (40 years prior he disappeared) was found in this read. Veronica had known the entire time what had happened, but she didn’t know where he’d gone. She finds out and so does the entire town. The news leaves Veronica in a daze and causes her a crazed determination to obtain more details. The find of Sebastian halts progress of a future housing development by James Jacobson in the small town of Peridale.

Jessie is asked to travel the country for an unknown period by a very special person, but this scares the heck out of her and may cause her to jeopardize an important relationship.

Many things happen in this book to many people and not everything is good. Many heartbreaks, greed, and corruption. Oh, and so many cut brakes!

Julie fights for Peridale just as her mom and Sebastian did in 1979. Jessie and Barker are right by her side searching for answers.

Katie discovers something about her own lineage and at the same time Barker finds out something else about Katie that will change her life when she finds out. This discovery’s info will be in the next book of this series.

Stay tuned for what happens next in Peridale in Book 31, “Sangria and Secrets” which is scheduled to be released February 27, 2024.

My next book I’ll start shortly is by Amanda M. Lee - “White Witchmas (Wicked Witches of the Midwest Book 23)”. Don’t start this book until you’ve read the previous 22 though! I believe it can be read as a standalone; however, starting at the beginning is more fun! Sandi Berumen53 2

As always, a great read!

Great characters, a suspenseful plot with lots of twists and turns. A wonderful English village that you truly become a part of. A fireplace, a hot drink, and a cozy chair to curl up in are all you need to transport yourself to Peridale and become a temporary citizen there. While all good things must come to an end sometime, I hope there will be many more adventures!

If you are new to this series you will fall in love with the village and it's people. DO NOT HESITATE TO JOIN US AND LEAVE ANY STRESS BEHIND!! Katherine Boles4

A Real Page Turner

In this adventure, Julia continues to fight for Peridale and her way of life. The book has many surprises and unexpected turns as the mysteries of the present and past unfold. The book is well written with real characters that return to each h 9f Julia"s adventures, it is an enjoyable read that you don't want to put down till the end. I look forward to the next book and new adventure! Carola Mac170 2

Good read!

I always enjoy a cold case. I enjoyed reading about Vincent Wellington in his prime, but now I want to know Katie’s story. I do hope we are done with James but I want Richie to stay in town. All in all I enjoyed it. Loved seeing Julia, Barker and Jessie working together. Would have d to see Dante’s interrogation. PAT23

Brilliant!!!

Lots of plot twists with this one, I love the whole series of peridale books, this one though had lots of back story with it which I really enjoyed, lots of loose ends tied up but also new mysteries unravelling for the next chapter... Looking forward to book 31
