I have tried to find Agatha Frost book 24 in a series Marshmallow and memories. I can not find it in my Kindle books or on Amazon. Can you tell me where I can find it. I have read all the others in this series and was anxious to find out how it ends. Please advise3 s ??Hannah??3,182 41

This was another good mystery in the series. In this one a bodyis found in a time capsule. Julia and her group try to figure out who did it. Of course they do and all is well for now.2 s QNPoohBear3,225 1,523

Julia is busy working in the cafe and trying to create the perfect wedding cake for her friends Leah and Johnny. She and Roxy are excited to be bridesmaids but Julia fears Roxy is keeping things from her friends. When Roxy goes to interview for the headteacher position, Julia tags along for moral support and finds herself plunged into a new mystery. A new bathroom project has unearthed what appeared to be a time capsule from 1990, Julia's last year of primary school. The same year her favorite teacher disappeared. Village gossip claims Felicity Campbell moved back to her native Scotland but that seems not to be the case when a dead body falls out of the time capsule! Walter Harkup, Felicity's ex-husband, hires Barker to prove his innocence. Jessie is adrift now she's returned from her travels and eagerly inserts herself into the investigation. This mystery is personal to Julia and she's determined to get justice for her teacher. Can they figure out who killed Felicity all those years ago before Leah's wedding?

This series is back to the detached manner of the first few books in the series. I don't feel connected to the storyline as much as I did when the mysteries centered around Julia's family. This one wasn't difficult to figure out. The clues were all there and pretty obvious too. On the plus size, the cinnamon hot chocolate with marshmallows sounds amazing and something I can easily make at home without a recipe.

Julia is too nice. She can't say no to her childhood friend and admit she's in over her head. She doesn't have time to learn how to make edible leaves. I know how in theory but I imagine it's hard to do. I have the time to watch every baking show on TV and yes the GBBS makes us all think anyone can be a fabulous baker on the first try! Julia also doesn't push Roxy into sharing her problems. It's pretty obvious something is going on in her personal life. She's also unsettled professionally, unchallenged, wanting more. Even without being in her head, I can see that. Good friends tell each other everything. I don't even get any connection between Julia and her family this time. Barker is bored working as a PI. There's no satisfaction in stalking workaholic husbands. He's a good father to both girls though. He spends a lot of time with baby Olivia and his older, wiser, more experienced self offers Jessie some counseling when she needs help figuring out what to do next. He knows her better now and doesn't try to tell her what to do but just offers up his own experience and what he sees as her potential. I don't blame Jessie for feeling restless in a small village where her great-grandmother has nothing better to do than listen to the police radio, gossip and jump to conclusions. Jessie is young and she needs to spread her wings. She shouldn't feel tied down to Peridale and the Barkers.

Leah is a bridezilla. She's a wedding planner and spent s much time planning everyone else's weddings that she can't decide what she wants for her own wedding. She has a fixed idea in mind and when circumstances threaten to derail her plans, she gets all dramatic and wants to cancel the wedding. Thank goodness Johnny is so loving and thoughtful. Dot's neighborhood watch has been disbanded so she's now a vigilante committee of one (plus Percy, who is a dear). Dot is still crazy but this time she isn't as involved in the investigation as she normally is. She has one big scene and then all the rest of the time she's busy spreading gossip and rumors. I was happy to see Katie is doing so well, finally, but sad her home has been developed into luxury condos no one can afford.

Felicity Campbell sounds she was a wonderful teacher for young children. She was thoughtful and caring, knew how to make a child not feel embarrassed or upset when things happened in school. She pushed her students to be their best just by being kind and supportive. When she suddenly disappeared, it cast a pall over what should have been a happy celebration of the end of primary school for Julia, Roxy, Leah and Johnny. Felicity also seems she was a good aunt but practiced tough love sometimes. Her ex, Walter Harkup, is horrible. He's sexist, snobby, rude, mean and too tough on the students. He would do better with older kids, the kids from the Fern Moore estate who need someone to help guide them. Walter is nothing but nasty and I wouldn't have blamed Felicity for running away. Barker is bored and desperate so he'll take on this client but he won't prove Mr. Harkup innocent of the man is guilty and there's one thing Barker know, it's usually the spouse. Daughter Molly is also a teacher. She looks after her dad, runs the school play in her mother's memory and is up for the headteacher position. If we ignore the nepotism, Roxy thinks Molly is a good teacher and right for the job, if only because she has more experience. Molly is a mousy spinster type who has devoted herself to caring for other people's children.

Besides the ex, suspects include Daphne Nation from the Fern Moore Estate whose son was kicked out of school by Ms. Campbell all those years ago. She now runs the cafe at Fern Moore. Her son was a major troublemaker and perhaps had ADHD and learning disabilities but back then no one thought about that stuff and if a kid acted out, he (usually it was a he, there was one in my grade at the same time who got kicked out of multiple schools) is labeled a problem child, a troublemaker and must be removed from the school for the sake of the other children. Kyle was a troublemaker but look at his mother! She solved her anger management issue by throwing a brick through a classroom window. Is it any wonder her kid was so awful? Did her anger cause her to kill the teacher who wronged her son? Amir Fallah, the school groundskeeper, seems a nice man. An immigrant from Iran, he fled violence only to find living in a foreign land was also not easy. Felicity Campbell helped ease his way. I get the feeling he was devoted to her and perhaps in love with her. He uses her nickname, "Flick," which implies a level of intimacy. Did the relationship turn sour and he killed her? He's the one who buried the original time capsule after all.

Then there's Liberty "Libbie" Turner, Felicity's niece. Libbie was a troubled child and her issues were magnified when she was kicked out of her home in Scotland and sent to England to relatives she didn't know well. There was also tension in the household and that probably made her feel worse. Libbie was supposedly always lying and stealing. Her story doesn't quite add up though and some of the clues do point to her as the murderer.

Whoever it was, Detective Inspector Laura Moyes is on the job. She has a reputation for being tenacious but I think she seems fair. She's sarcastic and confusing for the open-book villagers but it seems she knows how to do her job and do it well. At least she's not sexist, prejudiced against village people and accepts information from civilians. In her private life she sounds different and I think that hint of a subplot was kind of random.

This wasn't my favorite entry in the series in spite of the droolworthy cover. cozy-mystery1 K.L. KingAuthor 7 books155

Julia, Barker, Jessie, and friends work together to put the pieces together in this long unsolved mystery.

This story has theft, murder, a fire, a time capsule, and a wedding. The story took a couple of twists. I wasn't surprised by the culprit, but I was surprised by why they did it. I thought it would be a different reason. I d the way the time capsule connected the stories. I wasn't impressed with the wedding though. I was hoping that it wouldn't be included. There will be a lot of changes in the next book. Some people are leaving, and new people will be coming. As well as, different career paths for other characters. 1 Barbara Kelley721 1 follower

A Too Soon Unearthed Time Capsule!

"Marshmallows and Memories" is Book 25 of the Peridale Cozy Mystery series, written by Agatha Frost. This episode has Julia's friends Leah and Johnny's upcoming wedding, coinciding with the unearthing of A time capsule buried 30 years before, that should have remained buried for 70 more years. Inside that time capsule was not all the memorabilia that was buried in 1989, but rather the body of A beloved teacher who went missing in 1989. In fact, this was a second capsule that had been buried. While digging up land on one side of the Primary School, in order to build new bathrooms, this body-filled time capsule was dug up. The capsule holding items that Julia and her friends and teachers had filled up in 1989, when Julia was 11 years old, was buried on the other side of the school. Now, Julia, Roxie, Leah, and Johnny are all in their early 40s, and it is up to Julia and her P. I. husband Barker Brown to solve the case of who murdered and buried the beloved teacher before it can possibly ruin Leah and Johnny's wedding day. Of course, Julia and Barker are not the only ones investigating: Julia's adopted daughter, Jessie, attaches herself to Barker, calling herself his assistant/apprentice. Let us not forget that Julia's grandmother, Dot, has her own idea about who the killer is. Then there are the ly and unly suspects and those whom I either wanted to be or not to be the killer: all of which I didn't guess correctly. In other words, this was one of the few books in which I didn't guess 'Who did it." I also loved Baby Olivia, who turned 1 year old in this book. I gave this book a 5 star rating, even though I didn't understand some of the British lingo. Jenn1,049 6

I really just adore this series and I loved this addition as well! In this trip to Peridale Julia is struggling to make the perfect wedding cake for one of her best friends and it's just not coming together. In the midst of this cake quest a time capsule is discovered during some renovations at her old school and inside is something that no one expects - the body of a teacher that went missing and then was presumed to have run away.

Barker is hired to investigate the case by the dead woman's ex-husband and Jessie finds herself intrigued and joins him as an apprentice. Julia of course puts her skills to work to figure out what happened to their previously loved teacher. Julia also spends a good amount of time reminiscing about her school days with Leah and Roxie which really strengthens their bond again.

I really enjoyed the way this one played out. I loved seeing the different suspects and investigations that went on and I especially loved getting a bit of Jessie's POV! I love the woman she is becoming. As they follow leads and uncover secrets, they also discover that things may be changing in their little world a bit too. We see some growing and possible upcoming changes and it makes me so excited to keep reading this series. This really is a great, engaging and fast paced fun read. I look forward to these characters and their adventures! Molly5,151 33

an accidental uncovering of a time capsule st the school leads to more than one gruesome discovery and many reflections on past and present, as well as contemplation of the future

Jessie is happy to have returned from her travels, yet seeking some excitement. what paths might she explore?

Barker seems a bit bored with his PI gig, and very much over looking into possibly cheating spouses. is he ready to return to his law enforcement past?

Roxy seems to be interested in a different challenge in teaching, and dreading a related interview. Not much has been heard from her beloved Violet of late.

Johnny and Leah are immersed in the final legs of their wedding planning, as Julia works on cake related challenges .

changes and transitions seem to be in the air as many parties look to find and follow their passions as others mourn their losses.

much ado in Peridale, which is hopefully plenty to keep Dot busy watching and discussing it - and not trying to stir up more trouble than usual.

This was the latest cozy mystery in the Peridale Cafe series.

Julia's best friend Roxy is applying for the headmaster position at St. Peter's Primary School where she teaches due to Mr. Harkup retiring soon. The construction company digging for the new building foundation finds a large metal box buried in the dirt. After removing the lid a plastic wrapped skeleton falls out. The body is of Felicity Campbell aka the former Mrs. Harkup. Mr. Harkup immediately hired Barker, Julia's PI husband, to investigate her death and prove his innocence. Detective Inspector Laura Moyes is brought in by the local police to solve the cold case. To complicate the murder investigation is the fact a large amount of money raised for charity by Felicity disappeared at the time of her death. Meanwhile Julia and Roxy are helping their close friends Johnny and Leah with their wedding.

In the latest story from Peridale, Julia is preparing for her childhood friends upcoming wedding, with Leah and Johnny finally getting married.

However, when a body is discovered at the school, Julia, as ever, gets involved in finding the murderer, even though the body was buried 30 years before.

Jessie is back behind the cafe counter, but is wondering what else there is for her, and Roxy, Julia's other childhood friend is hiding something from her. There's also a new police officer in the area!

Together with Dot and Percy, the old cast of characters are back again.

I love the stories from Peridale, and whilst each book is a standalone mystery, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series. Shelly Joyce 480 4

The book I’m talking about today is, Marshmallows and Memories by Agatha Frost. This is the 25th book in the series. This book is well written with a plot that keeps you guessing, and keeps you following right along the investigator. It was so wonderful rejoining Julia, Gran, Barker, and Jessie again. My mind as I read, was wishing I could sit in Julia's Peridale Cafe, drinking Jessie's hot chocolate and eating one of Julia's cinnamon rolls as I listen to them discussing this latest mystery about old and new murders, Loved it. Great overall mystery with a series to get your teeth into, no graphic violence or sexual undertones. 5 star book and 5 star series.

I read this book so easily as the story and characters drew you in. Julia runs a bakery with her daughter Jessie and is married to an ex Police Inspector who is now a PI. One of her best friends is Roxy, a school teacher, who teaches at the school they went to as children. One day some workmen find a time capsule they'd buried but inside is a body, which turns out to be their favourite teacher, who everyone thought had run off. Julia and Roxy want to solve the crime along with her husband and daughter and there are plenty of suspects plus another murder! If you love a good mystery with relatable characters then this is for you.

Unexpected Mystery

“Marshmallows and Memories” is the latest adventure in Agatha Frost’s “Peridale Cafe” cozy mystery series. While trying to perfect a cake for an upcoming wedding, Julia is drawn into an unexpected murder mystery. Jessie and Barker are also involved in trying to solve it. For the first time, we see things from not only Julia’s perspective, but from Jessie’s as well. We learn a lot about her because of that. I enjoyed the change of perspective and the growth in Jessie’s character. It’ll be interesting to see her character development going forward. Highly recommend this book. Annalisa1,147 12

Julia and barker are back again with Jessie now a sidekick. She wants in on this odd and weird case. In renovating the school bathrooms a time capsule has been dug up and when it was open, there was a body wrapped up and stuffed inside. They seem to think it is Felicity. She was the previous wife of the headmaster and also a teacher. She went missing in 1989. There were alot of twists in this tale. Some of them were unexpected and all were surprising. I read every book in this series to my sheer delight and I must say this one was exceptionally intriguing. I couldn't put this one down. It's amazing.

What a fun mystery. Peridale Bakery is back in full swing. Julia is busy making an impossible wedding cake for her friends upcoming wedding. Jessie is helping run the shop but is also bored. She volunteers to be Barker's assistant. A dead body is found in a time capsule that is unearthed 70 years too early. Plenty of action and character development. Plenty of suspects as the body is discovered to be a teacher that disappeared 30 years ago. Enjoy this cozy mystery as you follow all the strings and find out who is responsible. Jennifer93

Another wonderful adventure with the crew of Peridale Cafe, you never know what will happen next.
Julie is tied up designing and dealing with the bride on her wedding cake. Jessie is helping at the bakery, but is wanting more to do. So she lets Barker know she will help him out.
To everyone amazement and unexpected surprise the time capsule is opened before it's time and a dead body pops out. Will Julie and Jessie solve the mystery behind this.

Number 24 is even better than I expected! The Peridale Cafe Cozy Mystery series is always a guaranteed great read.

Fabulous characters and a well crafted whodunit make this book a true joy to read.

Although the mystery and whodunit is always well written and filled with twists to keep me guessing, it is the development of the characters over the series that keeps me coming back.

I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next one! Alisha Henri212 2

Another Delicious and Intriguing Mystery in Peridale

So wonderful rejoining Julia, Gran, Barker, and Jessie again. My mouth is watering, wishing I could sit in Julia's Peridale Cafe, drinking Jessie's hot chocolate and eating one of Julia's cinnamon rolls as I listen to them discussing this latest mystery about old and new murders and the wedding -- oh, the wedding cake. Mmmmm. Thoroughly delightful! Carola Mac160 2

Another great one.

Peridale comings and goings never stop to surprise me. I love the relationship that was formed with Jessie and Barker, the ease with witch she calls him Dad is so endearing. Julia even with the baby still has it and I love that Barker is considering writing again, and maybe accepting a job with the police, he was good at it. Well done, can’t wait for the next one. I quite enjoyed this latest entry in the Peridale Cafe mystery series. The mystery was interesting, and we saw many of the series regulars facing decisions in their lives. Most of all, I'm delighted Jessie is back from her world tour, and that instead of getting some chapters told from Dot's POV, we have some chapters from Jessie's! I truly hope Jessie continues to play more of a role in the books.

As always a fun read.

I look forward to every new book. This did not disappoint!

The characters are well defined and interesting to follow, AND, the story lines never fail to intrigue. I can not recommend these books more highly. Fun figuring out who did the deed. I think they should make a TV series from them. If you a good mystery without all the blood, gore and sex you will love these books! Enjoy the read. Cynthia Samonte12

She's back on the horse!

Enjoyed following the trail with some of my favorite characters again. Even as characters have evolved with their own internal challenges as life rolls on, common bonds provided a safety net of hope that was missing from the last book. Well done, Agatha Frost! Heather W4,025 30
