THERE IS MORE THAN FEET, INCHES, AND ANGLES

The Christmas Quilt Bride books are clean, sweet historical romances with inspirational elements. Each book in the series is a stand-alone book by various authors. If you read the second book in the series, Marigold, by Zina Abbott, you would have met many of the characters in this story. The story takes place in New Ponca, Oklahoma Territory and begins in 1896.

Beulah Beatrice ‘Be-Be’ Connor is a spinster who lives and works for the Burdocks as a cook and housekeeper for the family, and the girls that Mari teaches at her academy. After two serious relationships that ended, Be-Be doesn’t see marriage and having a family in her future.

Daniel Burdock is a widower, who lost his wife and daughter during childbirth. Because of that, Daniel has no plans to ever marry again. He farms his land and is hoping to someday soon build a wooden structure home and get out of the soddy he has lived in. He has helped George with building the school and home for his brother and their family.

The story’s plot will have George deciding to conduct a school to teach mathematics to several of the men who have helped with construction. It will be Mari’s idea that Be-Be also attends the classes because they will be useful in her construction of a quilt with all the various angles and details in creating the pattern of stars. The classes will be held in the evenings in the dining room and as an incentive, Be-Be will provide a dessert and coffee after class.

I loved the story and how the importance of mathematics is critical to both males and females. As a quilter, I know how I use math with each quilt I make, especially if I am altering the size of a pattern. That is how Mari presents the need for Be-Be to attend classes too. Daniel has helped George on other construction sites and has his home kit ordered which is due to arrive soon. He will learn that even in a house-raising you are busy and can’t be everyone at once. Having a brother involved can lead to some additions that were never intended.

“Something more than helping me learn how to quilt is going on here.”

It isn’t long before Daniel and Be-Be see the unofficial writing on the wall that her attending classes is more than just learning angles for quilting. A bit of matchmaking is in the works. I d the chemistry between Daniel and Be-Be and how their newfound relationship is healing for both of them.

The story is sweet. It does end at page 122, or 82% and the rest are about other books in the series and by this author. clean-read clean-romance kindle-unlimited ...more1 Marie3,707 36

I love that this is connected to book 2- Marigold

It was lovely to catch up with Marigold and all the support cast from her book, here her brother in law gets his forever. Having lost his wife and child in childbirth Daniel has stayed far away from women and love, but Marigold has her matchmaking hat on and we know just how persuasive she can be!
BeBe is Mari's right hand woman and has also known loss and heartbreak, but she has remained sweet and thoughtful despite the hard times, she is smart but terrified of showing it, constantly doubting her worth and position in the 'family'. With a little creativity Mari manages to engineer an excuse for them to work together and gradually the little embers that Mari saw become a flame that Daniel can no longer deny it avoid. This is a very sweet, slow burn romance which is a pleasant change of pace to the now, now, now instalove expected today.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited. Phyllis Rundell998 9

This is Book #13 in the Christmas Quilt Brides series and is a sweet and heartwarming story with some humor added in. Beulah ("Be-Be") having reached the age of 30 feels she is deemed to be a spinster after having two failed romances. She takes a job at a girls academy where her employer insists she take a construction mathematics class so that she will be prepared to cut out quilt pieces. At the class she meets Daniel, who had lost his wife and baby during childbirth, and he too is required to attend the class by his employer. They both wonder "what in the world are they doing in this class and what earthly good will it do either of them". As they begin to associate with one other as classmates feelings begin to grow. Will it become more than a friendship and is there a HEA in their future. Be sure and read this fun book to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

A historical story with relatable characters (Beulah - Bee Bee and Daniel), twist and turn plot, conflicts and a believable resolution. Zina Abbott mentions many new inventions in this historical novel: sewing machine, telephone, typewriter with switchboard operators, and mail order homes, plus pay for women into an inspiring read. Geometry was never my subject in school, but an interesting concept between railroad bridge and roof trusses and quilting squares. Looking forward to the rest of the Christmas Quilt Brides.fiction historical-novels romance Debbey26 1 follower

Beulah is an enjoyable, clean historical romances with inspirational element set in the late 1800's in New Ponca, Oklahoma Territory. Beulah Beatrice ‘Be-Be’ Connor is a confirmed spinster with two failed relationships under her belt. She meets a widower, Daniel Burdock, who has no plans to remarry. He has helped build the school where BeBe is employed. Will the two "never planning to marry" change their mind? This is a wonderful Christmas "miracle" story that will keep you turning the pages. This is a nice read.
Is math important? Absolutely! Do only men need an understanding of math? Absolutely not!
Throw in a little match making and set off on an adventure.
There is a lot of proper etiquette explained. Respectfully referring to people by a proper title is becoming a lost art in our world. This story is a reminder to get back to the basics.
I received an complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

I really d this story. Beulah and Daniel are such a fun characters. She’s working for his sister in law and they find themselves in a classroom together learning mathematics. Will this bring them together?
Also great to revisit former characters again. And the description of the houses and quilts are fun to read. Lori D3,922 115
