This is a debut novel. I was a little more than 30% into this book before the murder. That’s a little unusual for the cozies I read. I understand now this will be a series and the author was probably giving a little deeper introduction into the main characters. So be patient, it was well worth the read. Rosie is the sweet church secretary. There are several mini mysteries woven into the story as Rosie solves the murder. I plan to read the next in the series when it’s available. I enjoyed the endearing, quirky characters. I found the ending memorable and heartwarming as everything wrapped up. I was blessed with a free ARC, and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.booksirens4 s2 comments Kelly75

So Erin's Glen is a small town where everybody knows everybody and of course everybody knows everybody's business which can be a blessing and a curse. Rosie is a parish secretary and good at remembering even the smallest details that can lead her to some very important revelations. Erin's Glen is a quiet town so you can imagine that when a local man dies right in the middle of town that everybody is on edge knowing that someone walking amongst them is a murderer. The characters in this story jump off the pages and you want to become a part of the town just to dive into the conversations that the ladies of the town conduct. There is a new comer to town named Marie. She meets a lot of the locals plus she is right across the street from where the young man is murdered. I thought it funny how Rosie, the sleuth, that she is goes to the salon in town not because she needs her hair done but because she knows the ladies of the town will be chatting and might reveal a clue as to who murdered the poor chap or perhaps why he was murdered. We have a priest in the story who is being sent strange letters and being blackmailed. Several big secrets are uncovered towards the end that leave the town's head's spinning. All in all this was a very enjoyable book. This was the first in a two book series.

Erins Glen is a small town, on the face of it a quiet place. Scratch the surface and you’ll find that it’s full of characters with secrets. And one of them is a killer.
We start with Marie, a new arrival in Erin’s Glen. Through her, we get to meet a lot of the local characters and see the place in all its glory. There’s enough baggage here for a whole airport carousel; so that, when a local man is found dead, there’s no shortage of gossip. Or suspects with a motive.
There will be no plot spoilers from me. Let’s just say that I got caught up in the unfolding slices of life and felt the character's highs and lows with them. Although I wanted to keep learning more, I also couldn’t wait to get to the end and see if I was right about things (I wasn’t).
The whole story is beautifully drawn, from the descriptions of Erin’s Glen to the acute observations of the players and a deep understanding of human nature. Everything feels real, motives and actions are logical and clues abound. The characters come to life and step from the pages. Included are shopkeepers, nuns, a priest, a bar owner and many others. Together with their families, they all play their part in the mystery and its resolution.
I enjoyed this story. I would be pleased if there was a sequel or even a series. The characters deserve it.

Murder in Erin’s Glen has a community cast of well-developed characters. Each is interesting, even the disreputable ones, although I do have my favorites, such as Rosie and Mary Jo. However, the frequent point of view changes disrupted the flow of the novel for me. My brain would just settle into a particular character’s point of view when the point of view changed. For example, there are a couple of chapters that end without disclosing what the viewpoint character saw and the disclosure was not made known to the reader. The next chapter would be from another character's perspective. The multiple viewpoints serve the story—I’m just making the observation about how it struck me.

I d the Irish setting. I'm not sure I would want to live in Erin's Glen but I enjoyed my visit.

Several mysteries are presented—why is Marie Miller in Erin’s Glen, what secret is behind the poisonous notes to the priest and to the school principal, and who killed Sean, a disd, chauvinistic bad boy? The ensemble presentation works well to wrap these up.

This was an enjoyable read. The author uses the opening chapters to introduce the key characters from their own point of view, therefore it was Chapter 14 before the crime took place. It, therefore, took me longer to engage with the story because of, what I thought were, unconnected events and information. I found it quite hard to keep all the characters clear in my head. Having said that, once the body of Sean was discovered by Rosie and Dan, I began to see the relevance of the previous character introduction. From this point, I started to enjoy the story, from the sub plot which brought Marie to Ireland; the malicious notes and threats; the incident which put Deirdre in hospital, to the ongoing investigation, officially through Dan and, unofficially through Mary Jo and Rosie. The link to Marie’s past was easier to identify than the person responsible for Sean’s death. I enjoyed how Marie came to feel at home in Erin’s Glen, and loved the relevance of the new name for the shop! Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Carol1,355 14

A new-to-me author with an interesting blurb which made I think it was worth giving a go and I am glad that I did. Nice little cozy mystery; a new start in life for the main character, moving into a small town in Ireland. A host of interesting characters, well fleshed out and a good solid plot.

I do that the author has captured the small town/village feel where everyone knows almost everybody else's business. I also the way the author has paced the chapters, some ending almost in a cliff hanger, reminiscent of a TV series. A relaxing, interesting and yet exciting read. I will certainly be looking out for more from this series Jane litherland2,071 34

Super immersive mystery . Great characters , no end of suspects . Set in Ireland in the town of Erin’s Glen , we see a whole hoard of secrets scandal and lies under the surface of this quiet township. Marie is the new woman in town ,what secrets has she ? When a body is found , it’s up to Rosie O’ Reilly the parish secretary and her nose ( well her spaniel’s nose) for sniffing out the clues and saves the day. Splendid writing style , great quirky characters a super amateur sleuth with a knack and a great cosy township. Brilliant start to a great series , I can just feel it. Very good, compelling reading experience. I read a forwarded book and I’m leaving my review voluntarily and in my own words. Beverly1,672 13

As all small towns do, this one has secrets, big secrets that come to light after some industrious sleuthing efforts. Murder, attempted murder , and fraud to mention a few. Settle in and dig deep. I d that Marie and her friends bonded over her secret after it came out. The group accepted the knowledge and moved on with their lives. Their closeness and comraderie was admirable. One never knows what you'll find in a small town once you find some loose threads and follow them. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion. "Murder in Erin's Glen" is a delightful journey into a quaint Irish town filled with secrets and intrigue. Rosie O'Reilly makes for a refreshing sleuth, and her partnership with her clever spaniel adds an endearing touch to the story. The fast-moving plot keeps you engaged from start to finish, and the quirky characters and humor add layers of charm. While some aspects may feel predictable, the overall experience is heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable. A perfect choice for fans of cosy crime mysteries looking for a compelling read that will leave them smiling. JoAn2,216 1 follower

In the first book in this new cozy mystery series, Ms. Ryan introduces the small town of Erin's Glen. The book started out slow as Ms. Ryan established the town and the characters; but then picked up the pace until the end when all of the puzzle pieces fell into place. Murder, blackmail and attempted murder shook up this tranquil small town but Rosie persevered with her sleuthing until all was resolved. A very enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Murder in Erin's Glen is book 1 in Erin's Glen Mystery Series by A P Ryan. I thought that this book was delightful. Rosie is a parish secretary and quite the sleuth. When there is a murder, Rosie and her spaniel are on the case. I enjoyed the characters and I laughed at the situations. Rosie also tells the police what and who. Total fun. This is a delightful, enjoyable cozy mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed the Irish setting and the feeling of community that Ms. Ryan creates with her characters. The characters are delightful and I always enjoy when pets are included, and here I got dogs and cats.

This is the first of Ms. Ryan's books I have read but I will be checking out others in this series.

This is a lovely heartwarming cosy murder mystery read, which is set in the small town of Erin’s Glen in Ireland. Marie is the newcomer to the town, but all is not as quiet as she was expecting when drama and scandal erupt. Overall this was a great start to a new series, and an enjoyable read.

This was a really slow read for me. I so wanted to love this book. It took nearly half of the book to even have the murder happen. I had a hard time staying focused while reading it. Not sure I will continue the series.

The Irish village setting was a natural for a cozy mystery, but the author didn't set up enough back story for the killer. I received this book for free through Book Sirens and am leaving this review voluntarily. Kandiemarie1,303 3
